As I started my MA in Victorian Studies at Birkbeck College this week, I spent the last couple of days preparing. It is a literature course, but they put pressure on understanding the historical and cultural context. That’s why we start the year with French Revolution.
As a part of preparation for the course, I read some of Robert Wilde’s book ‘French Revolution’. It is a fascinating lecture. Written in comprehensive language, it recounts not only the actual revolution but also the events preceding it, pointing out the political and economic reasons for it. I would recommend it to anyone who needs or wants to find out more about the French Revolution. No previous knowledge required
So, if I do not post so often, it is because my university work keeps me busy with classes on abolition, industrial revolution and the women question ahead. Despite all that, I will continue reading for pleasure and posting my reviews.
