A Silenced Voice: The Life of Journalist Kim Wall
⭐⭐⭐.5 3.5 out of 5 stars
A Silenced Voice is a true story of a Swedish journalist Kim Wall, who was reported missing while interviewing an entrepreneur and an inventor Peter Madsen on board his submarine. Soon, a mutilated body of a young woman was found in the water…
This book was written by Kim’s parents, Ingrid and Joachim Wall. It describes in detail their daughter’s life— her childhood, education and entering the adult/work life. They described her as a brilliant and independent journalist who attempted to give a voice to the weak and the ignored. They also praised her determination, diligence and amiable personality, which allowed her to make friends and business contacts wherever she went. The story seems biased, but we need to remember that it is a memoir written by the parents grieving the loss of their child— we cannot expect them to be entirely objective. It is a beautiful and very emotional account of a life that ended before its time. The only fault I found in the book is the repetitive narration.
